FAIRLY comprehensive info and maps of Corfu. AA have done a pretty good job despite the Greek authorities inability to comply with the stated opening times of various attractions and services. Most annoying was the supposed mid-April opening of the castle at Angelokastritsa. Still not open on Sat 8th May, but according to local cafe would open the following Tuesday, the 11th. Travelled again to Angelokastritsa on the 12th - STILL NOT OPEN.Actual opening day - anybody's guess.AA book says double-check with local authorities.Tourist Information Offices still not open, even by the 14th.Many Tavernas everywhere, but Greece still hasnt got the hang of what a Latte is. Order a Latte and mostly you get an Instant Nescafe. Prices rage from 1.80 to 3.80 (in Kouloura harbour, exclusively extortionate. Receipt to prove). Best taste/price/setting at Marias, beachside, Agios Georgios North.Maps are reasonable and the advice of CAUTION if driving a hire car is sound. The rules of the road are basically similar (but left-hand-drive) to the UK. But in Corfu, they are aparently only ADVISORY. Well that's the impression we got. That applies especially to stop lights, double white lines (barely visible) and 'NO ROAD FOR COACHES', which appear not to be an instruction, but a direct challenge; AND in degrees to most other road signs. No one wears motor-bike head protection (except hiring bikers). Shorts, tee-shirt and wrap-around sunglasses seems to be the local macho (& females on scooters) bike uniform. In some places (especially if walking) you can expect double the supposed speed limit. That's probably why posted speed limits thru some villages are as low as 20Km.So it's more a case of expect the unexpected. All in all tho' the AA guide was very helpful. The maps as far as back roads are concerned are more generalised. Some do not even appear on maps. If you hire an expensive GPS, make sure you have a good navigator to double check - everything. Many place names cannot be accessed. The GPS can have you taking a round-about route, or if you follow the maps, will show you travelling across blank fields, no roads in sight.Happy Days, Beautiful Place, Have Fun.

A handy size guide book which appears to have plenty of useful information together with a map of Corfu included - looking forward to putting it to good use in a few week's time!
