This book was worth every penny. We have just returned from a long weekend in Berlin and used this book multiple times everyday. The seperate pocket sized map was perfect as one day we decided to leave the book in the hotel room to save carrying it around. The map was also handy if we became extremely lost, I could try and figure out where we were by looking at the map in the book whilst the other half could look at the pocket map. Saved on quarells!I always have and will continue to buy DK guide books for my travels.

The 3 stars is only as compared to the print version, which I think would be a 4 or 5. The Kindle version is obviously convenient to have on your phone (in my case) and works well, but compared to the print versions I have for other cities it is just not as nice to use.The print version has photographs and maps as appropriate next to the entries, however the kindle edition has these as links to other locations in the "book" which breaks any flow up as you are browsing. Somehow I find it harder to use as well, the electronic contents index making finding things less easy than a print version, with multiple drop-down selectors to use instead of being able to see it all at once. Unless you want to go to the faff of bookmarking where you are you can't do the print version thing of holding your finger in the page you are looking at whilst you go somewhere else to look at something else you may be interested in,As the Eyewitness Top 10 books are so compact anyway I think I would recommend getting the print version - it doesn't take up much additional space and is so much more usable. So to sum up, the content is good, but the electronic version isn't as usable as the print copy.

I generally always choose DK Eyewitness for my guide books. This time round I decided to try a digital version and what a mistake. It's terrible. Like someone sat with the book & Word and tapped out the words. The map of Berlin is too small and if you zoom in it loses clarity. Having now seen the paper version in the store I think the digital version is a complete waste of money.I'd say to DK, either do it properly digitally, or don't bother. I bough the Lonely Planet book version instead. Not giving DK any more of my money!

Apart from a printed map of hotel location, this is my only guidebook on a solo trip. Information format is very clear and easy to read. what's more - the author really knows the place and the people (from a tourist's point of view). while wandering around the city or waiting for the delayed flight I enjoyed reading it, mapping the texts to observations. it's really interesting. the book also introduces the out-skirt areas of Berlin, I imagine it would be very useful for my return trips there. It would be great if the book contains a bit more bus/tram route information as my preference. but this wouldn't be a problem when a more detailed town centre map can be acquired from tourist info centre or hotel.

I have used these DK top 10 guides in numerous cities and particularly for a short break I don't think there is a better all round guide book that is easy to digest and follow. The maps that came with the book also very good and sturdy

I have got a number of these guidebooks now, if you're going to a city for a couple of days it's perfect. The Berlin version didn't disappoint.
